2025 was a defining year for Logan Finance. We launched our most ambitious product suite to date, expanded leadership across key markets, earned national industry recognition, and deepened our commitment to broker and correspondent partners nationwide.

As we close out the year, we’re proud to reflect on the milestones that strengthened our position as a top five Non-QM mortgage lender.

The Open Road: Redefining Non-QM Lending

In June, we unveiled the Open Road product suite after months of development work that fundamentally reshaped how we serve brokers and their clients. Under the leadership of Dylan Montana, Executive Vice President of Capital Markets, this comprehensive collection of specialized mortgage solutions was designed to break through the barriers of conventional lending.

The Open Road lineup addresses the diverse needs of today’s borrowers, from self-employed professionals and real estate investors to high-net-worth individuals and foreign nationals:

  • Autobahn (DSCR): Logan’s Short-Term Rental solution is built specifically for Airbnb properties, VRBO listings, and weekend getaways that generate serious income, with loans up to $2 million
  • Overland (Bank Statement): Self-employed borrowers access up to $3.5 million in financing based on actual cash flow rather than tax returns
  • Reach (P&L): CPA-prepared profit and loss statements unlock loans up to $3 million
  • Beyond (Asset Qualification): Liquid assets provide qualification for loans up to $3 million
  • Roam (Full Doc): Traditional documentation serves jumbo borrowers with loans up to $3.5 million
  • Accelerate (DSCR No Ratio): Purpose-built for short-term rentals and challenging cash flow markets
  • Horizon (Condotel): Specialized financing for luxury hotel-branded properties

The suite’s travel-themed naming emphasizes what we do best: helping borrowers navigate beyond conventional lending boundaries to reach their homeownership and investment goals. Since launch, the Open Road series has demonstrated strong early traction in both submissions and locks, validating our strategy and execution.

Strategic Leadership Expansion

As our product innovation accelerated, so did our leadership team. Two key appointments in 2025 position Logan Finance for continued growth in 2026 and beyond.

Dave Weatherford: National Managing Director of Third-Party Originations

In July, Logan promoted Dave Weatherford to Executive Vice President of TPO Production. With more than 25 years of mortgage industry experience, Weatherford had already played a critical role in accelerating the success of our East Division and building strategic relationships across the mortgage ecosystem.

In his expanded role, Weatherford now oversees cross-channel production initiatives and collaborates with teams throughout the organization to strengthen our strategic direction and market footprint. His leadership approach — built on the principles of One Team, Growth, Accountability, and Leading by Example — perfectly aligns with Logan’s culture of putting broker and correspondent partners first.

“The Non-QM market continues to evolve, and Logan Finance is committed to providing our broker and correspondent partners with the tools and support they need to succeed,” said Weatherford. “I’m looking forward to expanding our TPO presence and driving stronger performance across the channel.”

Paul Dobynes: Western Managing Director of Sales

In August, we welcomed Paul Dobynes as Western Managing Director of Sales to spearhead our expansion across California, Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington. With over 25 years of mortgage industry leadership — including senior roles at Village Capital & Investments, First Guaranty Mortgage Corporation, Plaza Home Mortgage, and a decade as President and CEO of RFM Mortgage in Sacramento — Dobynes brings the ideal combination of regional relationships and Non-QM expertise.

“Logan Finance has built something exceptional with the Open Road series,” said Dobynes. “Having worked across every facet of wholesale lending, I recognize the unique value Logan brings to the market. The combination of innovative products, scenario desk support, and a genuine partnership approach sets Logan apart.”

Industry Recognition: HousingWire Insiders 2025

Logan Finance’s commitment to excellence earned national recognition when HousingWire named two of our team members to its prestigious 2025 Insiders list, a program highlighting professionals who are making significant impacts in their organizations and the broader mortgage industry.

Vivian Hughes: Operations Training Manager

Vivian Hughes earned recognition for her transformative work as operations training manager. Since joining Logan, Hughes established the company’s first enterprise learning ecosystem, building and launching a comprehensive Learning Management System in under 45 days, executing responsibilities that typically require multiple specialists.

Her innovative approach integrates AI tools with behavioral science to deliver scalable, on-demand training solutions for both sales and operations teams. Hughes has improved onboarding efficiency, standardized regulatory training, and enhanced leadership development across departments, transforming training from a support function into a strategic lever for performance.

Dylan Montana: Executive Vice President of Capital Markets

Dylan Montana’s recognition as a HousingWire Insider validates his pivotal role in Logan’s strategic transformation. Since joining in 2021, Montana built Logan’s capital markets infrastructure from the ground up, taking the company from zero to over $200 million in monthly Non-QM volume.

Beyond leading the Open Road launch, Montana manages a complex operational portfolio that includes product development, pricing, margin strategy, loan sales, and investor relations, all functions that directly impact Logan’s profitability and market competitiveness. His leadership style emphasizes trust, clarity, and collaboration, creating structure while empowering his team to operate with autonomy during Logan’s rapid growth.

Thought Leadership: Serving America’s Self-Employed

Throughout 2025, Logan Finance doubled down on our commitment to education and thought leadership, helping mortgage professionals better understand and serve the evolving needs of today’s borrowers.

The Rise of the Self-Employed Borrower

In June, we released our white paper, “The Rise of the Self-Employed Borrower,” a comprehensive white paper that became one of our most-downloaded resources of the year. The research examines how mortgage lending is evolving to meet the needs of the 16+ million self-employed Americans who contribute $1.27 trillion annually to the U.S. economy yet face unprecedented challenges accessing mortgage financing through traditional channels.

The white paper provides mortgage professionals with data-driven strategies for serving this rapidly expanding market through Non-QM solutions including bank statement, 1099, P&L, and asset depletion programs. It highlights a critical truth: these are creditworthy borrowers who simply don’t fit conventional lending boxes, with average credit scores of 776 compared to 781 for conventional borrowers.

How to Sell Non-QM Like a Pro

Another thought leadership highlight this year was “How to Sell Non-QM Like a Pro,” a comprehensive guide for mortgage brokers looking to expand their business beyond conventional lending. With Non-QM market share growing from less than 3% in 2020 to 5% in 2024, and insurance companies and banks getting back into the space, we wanted to equip brokers with the knowledge and confidence to capture this growing opportunity.

The educational content covered identifying the right candidates for Non-QM products, overcoming common objections, building a Non-QM business development strategy, and streamlining the application process. The post reinforced that Non-QM borrowers aren’t subprime borrowers, they’re strong, creditworthy clients who simply need more flexible qualification methods that reflect today’s diverse workforce.

From Origination to Execution: How DSCR and Bank Statement Loans Are Shaping the Secondary Market

In this comprehensive analysis, we explored how DSCR and Bank Statement loans have evolved from niche products to essential components of the mortgage market, driven by fundamental shifts in how Americans work and invest. With more than 16.7 million self-employed individuals in the U.S. and continued strong rental property demand, these alternative documentation products are filling critical gaps that traditional lending criteria struggle to address. The piece examined why these loans have become particularly attractive to secondary market investors seeking yield, portfolio diversification, and exposure to creditworthy borrowers who don’t fit conventional guidelines.

The blog detailed how successful secondary market execution requires strategic thinking from day one, from consistent documentation practices and standardized underwriting to efficient technology integration. Logan Finance’s Open Road product suite exemplifies this approach, offering quick income calculations for Bank Statement loans, loan amounts up to $3.5 million, and a dedicated scenario desk that responds fast for quick-turn guidance for complex deals. By maintaining industry-standard documentation practices and leveraging technology-enabled verification, Logan Finance structures loans for secondary market success throughout the entire loan lifecycle, supporting originators in building sustainable, profitable Non-QM strategies.

Looking Ahead to 2026

As we move into 2026, Logan Finance remains committed to innovation, partnership, and excellence. The Non-QM market continues to evolve, with insurance companies and banks increasing their presence and recognizing the strong fundamentals and significant growth potential of the sector.

Looking ahead, we’re focused on continued expansion of the Open Road product suite based on broker feedback and market demand, enhanced technology and training resources for our partners, deepening our presence in key growth markets across the United States, and advancing thought leadership to educate the industry on Non-QM opportunities.

We’re grateful to our broker and correspondent partners who trust Logan Finance to serve their clients. Your success is our success, and we look forward to supporting your growth in 2026 and beyond.

Here’s to another year of breaking boundaries and opening roads to homeownership for borrowers across America.
